November - 12 tags of 2013

So, I finally made a tag.
Here I followed Tim's always wonderful tutorials adding a little perfect pearls to the leaf and his paper string at the bottom.
I really do love the chalk technique. Thanks Tim.

Tim Holtz Made Me Do It! Twice!!

Almost 3 years ago, I had the honor of attending two days of Tim Holtz workshops in Kansas City.  To thank Tim, we assembled a scrapbook which was made using as many Tim products as possible.  I mention it here because I had never scraped a page in my life and I was now doing my first one for Tim. I have not made a scrapbook page since but I did have a lot of fun making my page for Tim.

And this month I decided it was time that I post my creation for the Tattered Floral Challenge.  Oh, and I had been meaning to start a blog and so here they both appear.

I had a great time with the challenge. Wish I could say as much for the blog.

In my project I used the Tattered Floral die with the Custom Fasteners for the centers of each flower.

It is difficult to tell in my photo but the burlap background was glued to a 3D Stretched 6 X 6 Canvas purchased in a four pack from Walmart.

The flowers themselves were cut from various papers and fabric. Rusty hinge Distress Ink was applied to edges of many of the petals.

The second and fourth petal layers of the large corner flower and the third petal layer of the lower right flower were cut from a manila file folder that had been painted with the fabulous Distress Paints using antique linen, frayed burlap, picket fence and rusty hinge.

Did I mention what fun I had creating this project?

My 1st Post

I am surrounded in my life by very creative people. I sometimes have trouble including myself in that list. But today, as I set up this blog, I have given myself permission to say I am.
What I have learned  during this creative journey is to create those things that make me happy. If I make a dozen paper flowers with no specific project in mind and I have had fun doing so, I am happy.
For me the Art of Crafting becomes about having fun regardless of the end product.
